Capel Emplacement/Observ'n Post

This Emplacement/Observation Post (part of the larger Capel Battery Site) situated on the cliff top behind the Valiant Sailor Pub, was in a commanding position overlooking Folkestone Harbour and the Warren and beaches to the east of Folkestone. The Warren section of the beaches was mined and covered with barbed wire and anti-landing obstacles during WW2. This was the first in a line of emplacements stretching from Folkestone to St. Margaret's. Pictures taken Dec. 2000.
